Women Living Well

I wanted to share with you this great book I am reading! It was newly released at the end of September and is called, Women Living Well: Finding Your Joy in God, Your Man, Your Kids, and Your Home by Courtney Joseph.

1 WLW cover
I am about half-way through the book and have ear-marked, highlighted, and taken notes so much already! It is one of the those books that speaks to all women whether you are a working mom or a stay at home mom, a mother of 1 child or a mother or 6 children, newly married or married 25 years....I guarantee there is something here that will make you say, "YES! I need help with that!" or "Yes! Great idea!" or "Yes! That's just what I was thinking!" While author, Courtney Joseph is a stay-at-home, home-schooling mama who was featured on Rachel Ray in a segment called "50's Wives,"she truly understands the challenges women face in today's world. After gobbling up the first few chapters of Women Living Well, I eagerly sought out her blog {HERE} and began to follow her on Pinterest {HERE.} See her Rachel Ray segment {HERE.}

Upon digging into her blog, I discovered she is currently at Week 2 in an October series she is hosting called, Making Your Home a Haven. It is a 5 week challenge with a different topic each week. Bummer for me as I have already missed Week 1. No need to fret though, I have thoroughly read through the info in Week 1 and am going to tackle Week 1's challenge along with Week 2's challenge.

This is the Week 2 Challenge...
Week 2 Challenge: - Plan a Family Fun Night. Have a pillow party in the family room and get out every blanket and pillow in the house and be cozy with the kids and your hubby! Even if you live alone you can do this. Enjoy a cozy evening of hot cider and caramel corn. Bust out some old fashioned games and take the time to savor these moments with your loved ones. Work on gentleness this week.

On her blog she also includes 4 Ways to Pursue Gentleness in Your Home- all based on the scripture! I love it! Just what I needed! In the chaos of a life with 3 kids and two working parents, homework, soccer practices, gymanstics and ballet lessons, and hunting season, we need to work on not letting our family get overwhelmed and stressed. A reminder to be gentle is needed!

I am excited to plan a family fun night. I may have to talk the hubby into skipping hunting one night this weekend so we can do this, but WE. WILL. DO. IT. And we will do it with gentleness!

Backtracking..........

The Week 1 Challenge (that I missed!) was this...

Go buy an extra large candle and light it everyday in your home. I will be starting mine in the morning but if you work – you can start yours at dinner time and let it burn until you go to bed. Do what makes sense for your family. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home.
Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.

Philippians 4: 6,7 says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I LOVE THIS! I LOVE THIS idea of lighting a candle and saying a prayer for peace in our home each time the candle catches my eye. I love the idea of lighting a candle for my family - not just because company is coming! There should be no occasion more special than just being together as a family!

Soooo....throughout the remainder of October I will be joining this Making Your Home a Haven challenge and reporting on it here on Sister-Dipity. Want to join me? As far as I can tell, it will only encourage me to be more intentional as a wife, mommy, and homemaker!

Oh! Wait! I forgot something! Each week of the challenge, WomenLivingWell.org will be having a giveaway - a different one each week! Bonus! This is this week's giveaway...
