Christmas was wonderful! Everyone was healthy, happy, safe, warm, cozy, and we had electricity while much of our family, friends, neighbors, and fellow Michiganders did not. Don't know how we lucked out, but we did! Here are some pictures from our Christmas...
On Saturday the 21st, we all took mom and dad out to a bed and breakfast that hosts small group dinner parties. Mom and Dad's 40th wedding anniversary was the 22nd and we thought a lovely dinner together where none of us needed to cook or clean up seemed perfect for the celebration! It was perfect - almost perfect! We got a huge ice storm that evening and Julie, Andrew, and Addie were unable to join us. We missed them but were so glad they weren't on the roads. The meal was amazing! It was a very lovely evening!
On the 22nd, we hosted Christmas at our house with Ryan's family...
Claire got cousin Molly a BFF shirt that matches hers for Christmas!
Aren't they adorable?!?!
All the cousins together in their new PJs from Grammy and Papa!
On the 23rd, we went Christmas caroling with our church family. It was SO fun! The kids had a really good time and were still singing all the way home! So glad we did this!
On Christmas Eve we went to my parents' house for dinner with the family!
Sister Cousins - Claire and Lydia
Our annual family Christmas picture in front of Grandma & Boppa's tree!
Cousins - not so easy to get a good picture of all of them!
Julie, Andrew, and Addie weren't there for Christmas Eve. We saw them a few days later!
A couple of very stylin' cousins!
We then went to church for our Christmas Eve candlelight service. It was lovely, as always!
We then went home and got ready for bed.
We said good-bye to our Elf, Ricky! Always bittersweet! (see Ricky in the vase above Claire's head!)
And Santa Claus came!
Christmas morning in our house was filled with excitement, tons of smiles, squeals, and hugs!
Hugh made out like a bandit on his Duck Dynasty loot this year!
Claire and Oliver each got a LeapPad 2 and Hugh got a Kindle Fire from mom and dad!
Santa brought Claire paints and a new tabletop easel. Gus was very interested in her artwork!
Oliver got this Plasma Car scooter thing from Santa. He has been zipping around here like crazy on that thing!
Wore him right out...
On the 26th we went to my parents' house for Christmas. We had a wonderful brunch together and then had a little birthday cake (can't see it in the picture but it is there) and sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus!
We had tons of fun exchanging gifts!
Aunt Cherie got everyone new sleds....
We were most definitely blessed with a white Christmas! We had such a fun time in the winter sunshine snowmobiling and sledding with the kids.
It was GORGEOUS outside!
Boppa's horses always look so majestic against the snowy backdrop!
We still have another week of vacation left before we all head back to school! Hooray! It has been wonderful staying in PJs just a little bit longer each day, staying up late watching movies, playing in the snow, and snuggling on the couch with no place to rush off to! I love it! What a blessing this Christmas has been for us!
